Call for Papers – SC2PI @ UCSB (or UCLA)

We would like to announce the call for papers for the sixth semi-annual Southern California Comparative Political Institutions (SC2PI) conference on September 20, 2013 – tentatively scheduled to be held at UCSB.  As we realize that traveling to UC-Santa Barbara is a little bit further away for some potential participants than usual we would like to ask everyone interested in attending (whether to present or listen) to let us know whether holding the conference at UCSB would prevent you from attending. Please do let us know sooner than later at:  scpi_ucsb@scpi.politicaldata.org.  If we find that too many people are unwilling to make the trek to Santa Barbara, the meeting would move to UCLA.

The conference series rotates among institutions in Southern California, bringing together scholars interested in the quantitative and formal study of political institutions.

We are interested in papers on political institutions broadly speaking, whether focused on a comparative analysis of political institutions or the effects of particular political institutions on individual behavior.

Faculty and advanced graduate students are invited to submit papers. If you have a paper you would like to present, please provide a paper title and abstract by August 15, 2013 via email to scpi_ucsb@scpi.politicaldata.org. Graduate students should also indicate how far along in their program they are.  Please also respond if you are interested in serving as a discussant or simply attending the conference.  Announcement about paper acceptances and the conference program will be distributed through the SC2PI email list (sign up here on the right ->).

The first five conferences in the series (held at UC-Riverside (x2), UCLA, USC, Claremont Graduate University) have been very successful. We hope to continue that success and look forward to seeing you on September 20th.
